Tottenham get more time to strike swap deal as 'negotiations continue'

Tottenham could have hope yet of pulling off a late swap deal before the transfer window shuts as Ange Postecoglou looks to bring in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo. The wantaway defender has been strongly linked with a move to Ligue 1 before Friday's transfer deadline, but Spurs' interest could turn his head - and the two clubs may be able to strike a swap deal that benefits both parties.

Adarabioyo has trained separately on Monday as club prepared for his departure after the centre-back informed the club of his intention to leave. That encouraged AS Monaco to re-open talks with the west Londoners after calling off the move earlier in August.

Adarabioyo is under contract until 2024 but he has refused to sign an extension, which has forced Fulham into finding a new club for him to avoid losing him for free next summer.

A report from the Daily Mail claims the defender has 'held talks' with Tottenham to discuss a potential switch across London, and their ability to offer players that Fulham want could tilt the odds in their favour.

Fulham are keen to offload the 24-year-old in the next 48 hours, with talks continuing between the Cottagers and Monaco. But with a deal still yet to be agreed, Spurs could offer a proposal which satisfies both parties.

The north London club are willing to let Davinson Sanchez leave in the transfer window after agreeing to sell him to Spartak Moscow before his £13m move collapsed.

Sanchez has attracted interest from several European clubs and there are clubs in the Premier League also keeping tabs, with Fulham joining Nottingham Forest and Wolves in the hunt for the Colombian. And Postecoglou could use Sanchez as part of a swap deal for Adarabioyo.

Other reports suggest Eric Dier may be more suited to join Marco Silva's side given his current situation, with Fulham keen on both players.

Dier has been left out of Postecoglou's squads for their first three Premier League games and the 29-year-old could depart after more than 350 appearances for the club, having joined in 2014 from Sporting Lisbon.

Reports also suggest Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are shock contenders for his signature, which may make it difficult for Fulham to convince him to join them this summer.

Spurs have already spent over £100m this summer on Van de Ven, James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for the same amount. And if Daniel Levy can pull off a bargain deal and offload an unhappy player in Dier or Sanchez, it could prove to be a fine piece of business for Spurs.
